Bridge Centre Firsts

Since The Bridge Centre opened in 1987, more than 3,000 babies have been born to Bridge patients. Our pregnancy successes have contributed to a number of national and international advances in fertility treatment, especially in the development of clinical practise based on research advances.

The Bridge Centre has achieved: -

  • First IVF birth 1988.
  • First GIFT birth 1988.
  • First births following GIFT and IVF using donated oocytes 1999.
  • First East London Transport IVF Centre.
  • First Centre to widely use Transport Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) to make this new technique more accessible.
  • The Centre conducted early research in the use of epidymal sperm (MESA).
  • First UK Centre to achieve a pregnancy using immotile testicular sperm.
  • First UK centre to adopt 'Best Practice' approach.

We have established and supported successful fertility services in Italy, Greece, Turkey, Kuwait, India and, most recently, Lithuania, applying our extensive management, laboratory and clinical experience to provide first class IVF and ICSI treatment.

The Bridge Centre was one of the UK's first fertility and gynaecology centres. Today it is one of the most experienced. We apply this experience, along with the most advanced, clinically proven techniques, to the benefit of each individual patient. At Bridge, you are, first and foremost, an individual - everything we do is dedicated to your best interests.
