Best Practice - Choice and Affordability

Our open and non-selective approach means that we treat a very broad range of patients including those who, for age or medical reasons, begin with lower-than-average chances of success. We explain these chances, clearly and honestly.

Some people with low success potential choose to take treatment anyway and have every right to do so - it is not important to us that this might affect our overall percentage results. What is more important is that you know exactly where you stand and have all the information you need to make your decision.

Once the treatment strategy has been decided, we then take special care to avoid early escalation of intensity and cost unnecessarily, especially in relation to drug usage.

As a result, many of the patients treated at Bridge begin with IUI. It is more affordable, less invasive and, therefore, an ideal 'first try' solution in many cases, particularly for younger women.

IVF is the mainstream treatment for fertility. Here we offer you a choice of drug regimes which has very significant cost implications. The costs of the two alternative treatments, natural or recombinant gonadotrophins, differ enormously yet, to date, there are no conclusive statistics or general agreement within the medical profession to show that recombinants justify the significantly higher cost.

In the same way, we approach the use of ICSI with great care. We have clear 'Best Practice' guidelines and, in each case, the issues are carefully evaluated and explained before treatment commences.
