Cancer Screening Bridge at ESHRE 2008 Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) for chromosomal translocations The HFEA has now granted Bridge a general licence to screen for abnormal numbers of the translocated chromosomes using a similar approach to preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) for aneuploidy (abnormal chromosome number). Developing a test for a specific translocation takes about a month and, if the translocation carrier is male, we can also offer sperm screening to estimate the level of risk.
The Bridge Centre is licensed by the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority to perform IVF, microsurgical fertilisations and treatments using donated eggs and sperm, to perform Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis and Screening and to store genetic material. |
