We announced a major step foward at ESHRE (The European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology) on 30th June.

Karyomapping is now proceeding to final clinical trials and is expected to be available to British patients within one year, enabling the detection of any of the 1,500 inherited conditions that can affect child health.

See the ESHRE statement and a briefing on the methodology.

International Egg Donation
Good News from our International Egg Donation Programme!
Superb Results from our Ukraine Programme
Since the inception of this programme and until April 2009, 210 patients have been treated via IVF/ICSI. Out of 178 recipients for whom we already have the result, 87 have given birth and another 20 recipients have ongoing pregnancies expected to go to term. So, just under 50% of our patients have already achieved parenthood as a result of this programme - a figure which will rise as further results come in. The age range of patients is 35-56 and a number are now returning to try for a sibling.

We also run Egg Recipient programmes in the USA and Spain and an Egg Sharing Programme in Crete - and we will find the right solution for you.

Call the egg donation team on 020 7089 1469.

Our Successes - see our very latest results
We feel it is essential that the most up-to-date results are available to show how the centre is performing today - we feel they are more helpful than historical results which reflect patient profiles and treatment regimes of up to 2-3 years ago. The results you see reflect our caseload which includes a high proportion of difficult cases which come to Bridge based on our expertise in genetics, repeated IVF failure and recurrent miscarriage.

Donor Sperm
We have good supplies of Caucasian sperm, also Asian sperm, and there is no need to wait forIVF or IUI treatment.

Cancer Screening
Bridge now offers cancer screening following the HFEA's decision to allow PGD for inherited predisposition to cancer.

Bridge at ESHRE 2009
The Bridge team made a huge contribution to Europe's most important meeting on human reproduction and embryology in 2009 - a briefing can be found here.

Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) for chromosomal translocations
About 1 in 500 of us have a chromosome translocation in which part of one chromosome has been exchanged for another. As there is typically no loss or gain of genetic material - the translocation is 'balanced' - this has no effect on the individual but there is a high risk that eggs or sperm will inherit an 'unbalanced' combination often resulting in repeated miscarriage or abnormal pregnancy.

The HFEA has now granted Bridge a general licence to screen for abnormal numbers of the translocated chromosomes. Developing a test for a specific translocation takes about a month and, if the translocation carrier is male, we can also offer sperm screening to estimate the level of risk. For enquiries, please contact PGD Enquiries or call Charlotte Bancroft - 020 7403 3363.

our_belief
It is our belief that fertility assessment and treatment must support the rights and freedom of consenting individuals to make responsible choices within the very wide range of laws, rules, guidelines and ethics which govern this important and sensitive issue.
